Daily Update #12

The LAST daily update will happen tomorrow. I hope you all had a great time with us! ~E

Here's a challenge!
Go out and treat yourself to a vegan pizza! Go somewhere that can sell vegan pizza and have a try, it could be quite good.
You may find something that you enjoy that is vegan and will help with the issue of agriculture. The more vegan-related things you buy, the less demand for animal

Science Experiment

Global warming is how scientists describe the gradual warming of our global climate. Scientists think that the trend towards global warming can be attributed to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere from industrialization. Another problem is deforestation, as we remove plants and trees from the environment to meet a high demand for for lumber or by clear cutting fields for farming and urbanization. By removing trees from Earth’s environment, are we changing how greenhouse gasses are processed in the Earth’s atmosphere? What effect do trees and plants have on greenhouse gasses?

Aim: To find out what effect the trees and plants have on greenhouse gasses.

Hypothesis: I predict that the jar without the plant will be warmer because the plant in the other jar will be changing carbon oxygen & cooling the world

Apparatus:
  • 2 large jars
  • 1 plant
  • 2 thermometers

Variables:
Independant: What’s inside the jar.
Dependant: The heat inside the jars.
Controlled: The type of jar.

Method
  1. Put the plant in one of the jars.
  2. Put the thermometers in both jars.
  3. Put the lids on both of the jars.
  4. Record the temperatures at 10 mins, 20 mins and 30 mins
  5. Graph results

Graph of our results:
Time
Plant jar
Non-plant jar
10mins
30°C
26°C
20mins
15°C
32°C
30mins
18°C
24°C

Summary:
At the end, we didn’t have enough time to finish the experiment and do it for an hour, we had trouble reading the temperatures and getting them accurate so the results were rather mixed up and we couldn’t get a specific conclusion but two of the readings showed that the non plant jar was warmer so we just went with that.

Conclusion:

Overall our hypothesis was correct. The jar with the plant inside it had started cooling down, while the other jar got somewhat hotter.

Daily update #10

Hope you have all been doing and reading the daily updates! ~E

Did you know...
Numerous studies have linked the consumption of animal flesh to cancer. A major Harvard study found that people who frequently eat chicken cooked with-
out the skin (supposedly the “healthier” way to prepare chicken) were 52 percent more likely to develop bladder cancer than people who don’t eat chicken. Also, that’s one of the reasons of tax meat in America.

Daily Update #9

Here's the next daily update. Try to doing this one every Monday! ~E

Here's a challenge!
Today is Meatless Monday! (Again)
Challenge yourself to not eat or buy any meat today!
You can start to do this every week, only one day where you don’t eat meat. This could help with the less demand for meat. Check out the video to learn more about it; https://youtu.be/Jv8u9VOgkiQ

Do you think you have what it takes to do it every Monday?

  • Two people can hand out the calendars

How it relates to the lines of inquiry - the comic etc
  • We think we included the lines of inquiry in comic - because sir c explained about it.
  • Calendar - we are getting people to  change - their responsibly.

Research - do we need to do more of it?
  • Yes… we know the issue.
  • Do more research - try to.

Blog - anything else to do? Should we explain what we did on blog and the page that ever finished
  • Paste a link of videos on blog.
  • Action progress page in blog

Social Media - twitter replies and such - using our email for action?
  • Email people

Scrapbook - action in process and the LOI pages
  • Tuesday finish them

Calendar - Who is going to make it? What do we need to do?
  • emi is going to make it
  • Print it out - make it look better. Make a lot.

Other questions - that people want to question.

Daily Updates #5

Fifth day of daily update! Please just try to give yourself a challenge or a chance to change! ~C

Give yourself a treat and go out picking for food!
You can make plans to go picking for anything that is in season!
This will mean that less machinery is being used for picking fruits,
thus using less finite resources. You are also not using plastic
that are used to package fruits and also helping to not use finite
resource within agriculture.

Daily update #2

Here's our second daily updates! We will be taking turns to post the daily updates just so you know! ~ E

Here's a Challenge!
Day #2- Try to start planting your own vegetable garden! This is easy to do with family and friends. Try start with some salad leaves, these are simple and can be appealing in many different meals. This can help the agriculture situation and using petrol (Which is a finite resource.) to go to shops.

Daily Update #1

From now on, every day we will be posting a fact or challenge every day in which you can use to take action! These will be called "Daily Updates" so look out for them! If you need more information check out our last post! ~J

Did you know...
About 2.3 million people in the United States of America live in food desserts (Places or cities that don't sell healthy meals due to economic reasons.) Most of these people don't own a car either so travelling to another town to shop isn't really an option.

Daily Updates!

We will be starting to do something new! From tomorrow onwards, we will be doing something called daily updates! These will be things that you can do to help with the environment and agriculture. You can learn more new things and facts about agriculture. We will have a page where you can access all of the daily updates that we have done so far.
Hopefully, you will enjoy this new thing we are doing and follow our Blog, twitter and Instagram for notifications on the daily updates! ~E

Social Medias!

We have gotten both a Twitter and an Instagram for us to update more on the issue at hand and what we have been doing about it. This can help us let you know more on what you can do and updates on agriculture. This Blog is the main part of this issue and it is where you will learn more about what we have been doing. Below is the links to both of the social medias and you can see on the side of the blog the links too. Hopefully, you can help us by sharing this blog and our social medias around. Thank you! ~E

Twitter - Quick update on what we have been up to relating to agriculture.

Instagram - Pictures of what we have been doing and updates.

Finding Out The Lines of Inquiry

Below is us writing about the different lines of Inquiry and what we have found out/need to find out. This is just us planning about the lines of Inquiry. ~E

Line of Inquiry:
How machinery affects finite resources within agriculture.
What do I already know?
  • Machinery uses up finite resources such as oil and power.
  • Agriculture uses machinery such as tractors, combine, fans and Drags.
What do I need to find out?
  • More on what machinery uses what finite resources.
  • How it could it affect the future and the wider world.
  • How it could impact humans.
How will I find out?
  • Books that are from the school library or any other library.
  • Survey people about agriculture
  • Newspaper/Magazines
  • Photographs
  • Pamphlets
How do I record this information?
  • On our Blog/Google Doc.
  • Inquiry Book - take notes on it.

Line of Inquiry:
Agriculture and the effect it has on finite resource.
What do I already know?
  • Water pollution is getting more serious since agriculture of the world started to develop.
What do I need to find out?
  • Why does agriculture caused more pollution?
  • How can we improve the situation of pollution/finite resources
How will I find out?
  • Online database
  • Books
How do I record this information?
  • Inquiry book
  • GoogleDoc
  • Blog (STP - Agriculture Work blog)

Line of Inquiry:
The responsibility humans have within agriculture.
What do I already know?
  • Humans who are farmers have control over what they plant.
  • What gets planted is based on the demand humans have, whether it is meat farming or crops.
  • Meat farming takes up ¾ of agriculture.
What do I need to find out?
  • How humans can make a change to farming meat or plant/crop.
  • Are there any other ways to make a change other than becoming vegetation.
How will I find out?
  • Book from school library
  • Internet
How do I record this information?

Make a post on our blog about our bibliography.
