Global warming is how scientists describe the gradual warming of our global climate. Scientists think that the trend towards global warming can be attributed to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere from industrialization. Another problem is deforestation, as we remove plants and trees from the environment to meet a high demand for for lumber or by clear cutting fields for farming and urbanization. By removing trees from Earth’s environment, are we changing how greenhouse gasses are processed in the Earth’s atmosphere? What effect do trees and plants have on greenhouse gasses?
Aim: To find out what effect the trees and plants have on greenhouse gasses.
Hypothesis: I predict that the jar without the plant will be warmer because the plant in the other jar will be changing carbon oxygen & cooling the world
Apparatus:
- 2 large jars
- 1 plant
- 2 thermometers
Variables:
Independant: What’s inside the jar.
Dependant: The heat inside the jars.
Controlled: The type of jar.
Method
- Put the plant in one of the jars.
- Put the thermometers in both jars.
- Put the lids on both of the jars.
- Record the temperatures at 10 mins, 20 mins and 30 mins
- Graph results

Summary:
At the end, we didn’t have enough time to finish the experiment and do it for an hour, we had trouble reading the temperatures and getting them accurate so the results were rather mixed up and we couldn’t get a specific conclusion but two of the readings showed that the non plant jar was warmer so we just went with that.
Conclusion:
Overall our hypothesis was correct. The jar with the plant inside it had started cooling down, while the other jar got somewhat hotter.
